About FANTASYTICO

All the art in games, movies, TV, music and more!

It's interesting how you can remember certain things from games / movies you haven't played / watched for years. You may not remember any of the plot, but you can remember certain parts of a scene, a character's voice or music.

Sometimes the smallest details are the best.

FANTASYTICO is an independent editorial site focusing on games, movies, television, music and their creators. We look at the stories, decisions and details that make entertainment memorable.

We are interested in discovering what makes games fun, what makes movies unique and how music can really change the atmosphere of something. We also look at all the decisions that were made throughout the creation of something that people may not notice on the first playthrough. We look at the ideas that have developed and the small details that can tell us something.

What We Cover

Games

We look at the world-building, game mechanics and stories that games can tell.

Films and Television

We look at the writing, acting, cinematography, direction and decisions that make certain scenes memorable.

Music

Music plays a huge role in entertainment. Soundtracks can really help build a whole fictional world. An album or single can tell a story.

Art & Culture

We look at how ideas can be transferred between different media.

We cover reviews, features, analysis, commentary and news. Some articles will be about the latest releases, others will be about older pieces of work that are still worth looking at.

Something We Care About (You May Too!)

We have every right to our opinions.

Everyone will have a different experience when playing / watching these stories. What may annoy one player could intrigue another. This makes conversations more interesting as people can explain why they think the way they do and respect each other.

We believe that criticism should be thoughtful. The facts should be correct, opinions should be clear and the people who created something should be treated fairly.

FANTASYTICO will hopefully give you a little more time to look into something you care about.

About FANTASYTICO

All the art from games, movies, TV, music and everything else.

It's interesting how vividly we remember things we haven't seen or played in years. You might forget the whole story, but still recall one scene, a character's voice, or a bit of music in the background.

Those little details are sometimes the best ones.

FANTASYTICO is an independent media site covering games, movies, TV, music and the artists who create them. The concept behind our site is quite simple: there are many great things happening in entertainment, and we want to discuss them.

We're curious about what makes a game fun, what makes a movie special, or how music can transform an atmosphere. But we also like the kind of things nobody notices the first time around: the choices made during development, the concepts that didn't quite pan out, and the little things you might not notice even after experiencing something 10 times.

What we write about

Games are, of course, a huge part of what we cover. There is a lot to talk about, from the design of a world to how its mechanics influence your gameplay.

Films and TV tell their own stories – both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. We focus on the writing, acting, cinematography and decisions that make a scene memorable.

Music is just as important to us. An entire game or film can be known for its soundtrack, while an album or even a single track can be a story in and of itself.

In addition, we like art and culture in general and would like to see ideas from one medium transferred into another.

There'll be news, reviews, features and longer pieces looking at these topics. Some will cover recent releases. Others might return to something older because it's still worth talking about.

Something we care about (and you might, too)

We are entitled to an opinion, but we are not entitled to have everyone agree with it.

Anyone can express themselves. Something that might frustrate one player might be something that another actually loves. The same goes for films, TV and music. We think these differences make for more interesting conversations, as long as you can explain why.

And we think that criticism should be sensible. If we enjoy something, we'd like to explain why. If we don't, we'd like to be able to do that too. Facts should be accurate, opinions should be presented as opinions, and the efforts of the people involved should be respected.

That's what we are working on at FANTASYTICO.

There are a bewildering number of sources to keep abreast of what's happening in entertainment. We'd like FANTASYTICO to be somewhere you can spend a little longer exploring the things that interest you, such as a recently discovered game or a film that you've watched a dozen times.

It's one thing to like something. It can be fascinating to discover what, precisely, makes you like it so much.
